Steel cut oats, often known as pinhead oats, produce a chewy, flavorful hot cereal. Although steel cut oats take longer to cook than rolled oats, the extra time is well worth it. No stirring is necessary when cooking steel cut oats in the slow cooker overnight so you may wake up to a great whole grain breakfast. Except for the quick cooking version, we do not advise microwave cooking of steel cut oats.
